OVERNIGHT SHELTER MONITOR--WOMEN'S/NON-BINARY WINTER SHELTER REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to the Winter Overnight Shelter Manager PRIMARY WORKPLACE:
216 State St.
, Harrisburg, PA 17101 PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provide overnight awake monitoring and overall safety of the guests and facility plus completing required paperwork on assigned shifts at the winter overnight shelter for women/non-binary individuals.
CLASSIFICATION:
Part-time (12 - 25 hrs.
/week; Dec.
- March), Seasonal, Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
At least one year experience in a human services setting Experience in relating to or working with individuals dealing with homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance abuse issues Ability to be self-directed and reliably carry out job duties without direct supervision Ability to lift items up to 35 lbs.
on an occasional basis Ability to do basic housekeeping chores Availability to work primarily an 8 or 9.
5 hour shift that is scheduled between 10pm - 8 am, as assigned CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification TASKS:
Monitor guest behavior to ensure safety and compliance with house rules, properly reporting any concerns Maintain knowledge of who is in the building at all times Follow COVID-19 and CDC protocols to assure safety of all staff and guests Maintain building security by securing all outside doors Promptly mitigate any crisis situations regarding health or behavioral issues Treat all guests with dignity and respect, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and encouraging engagement at each individual's pace Complete shift log, properly documenting any significant interactions Build a positive rapport with guests, referring any issues to Shelter Manager Assure that the shelter area is cleaned and sanitized prior to exiting the shelter in the morning, giving direction and support to volunteers as applicable Perform other duties as assigned Job Types:
