Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support)

If selected, you will serve as the Legal Administrative Specialist in the Litigation Support program area of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Middle District of Pennsylvania. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Providing technical and analytical assistance to support the litigation needs of the USAO. Developing alternative methods and encouraging the use of automated support for trial preparation and presentation. Preparing computerized trial presentation programs. Assisting in the courtroom during trials as needed. Managing and operating a variety of computer hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices and other state-of-the-art equipment to conceptualize exhibits and complete special presentation projects. Maintaining an inventory of litigation support equipment. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-09:
To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must possess ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level as defined below. Specialized
Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as:
providing litigation support to users; recommending automated support methods for trials; customizing databases and programs for user needs; maintaining inventory of computer equipment; assisting with trial preparation and presentations. OR Education:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Criminal justice. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
