Administrative Assistant (Office Automation)

At the full performance level, you will provide a wide variety of clerical and administrative support services If selected, you will be responsible for providing a variety of administrative support functions. Duties would include:
Serves as the primary receptionist for the Harrisburg office; Controls access to the office and ensures that only visitors properly cleared are authorized entry; Maintains the receptionist coverage schedule to ensure the receptionist desk is covered during normal business hours; Receives and reviews all incoming mail and correspondence for the office; accepts and logs in all service of process for the office and annotates accordingly; Maintains administrative files as required; Produces a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced word processing software functions; Assists the Administrative Officer, branch office managers and/or staff with special projects and general clerical assistance as assigned. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-5:
To be qualified at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions as defined below:
Specialized Experience, Education, or a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized
Experience:
At least one (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal Government. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Examples of specialized experience are answering multi line telephone systems, greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries, providing factual information, receiving, sorting and distributing mail, producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software, entering information into an automated database and/or maintaining files. -OR- Education:
Bachelor's degree or 4 academic years of education above high school level leading to a Bachelor's degree, in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combining Education and
Experience:
Combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours, (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if:
1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
